CYCLE OREGON

September 2006

Come join the group for 2007!!!!!

Alan Sherry, Bill Howitt, George Schulz, Bjarne Holm, Larry Holman, and Mike Jens. About 15 to 20 cyclists from Alaska come together for Cycle Oregon each fall, to ride with friends, and to stretch the summer season with a week long series of rides, in a superbly organized event. Next year will be the 11th consecutive Cycle Oregon ride for Mike Jens, and the 20th anniversary for Cycle Oregon.

Kent Crandall sets up camp in the Alaska section. Bob Voris in the green shirt to the left.

The Bike Gallery, based out of Portland, services all bikes for free. You only pay for parts.

Lunch stop on straw. Alan Sherry, Mike Jens, Larry Holman, Bjarne Holm and Curtis Wilson.

Lunch by Anthony Lake at 7,100 feet, shortly after passing through the 7,392 foot high Elkhorn Summit. It does not get any better than this!!!!!

Larry Holman and Mike Jens find a small cafe and refuel after riding through a cold and wet pass in the Blue Mountains.

After a shower, great food and a stop at the beer garden, it's time for the evening's live entertainment!

Join us next fall. For more information on Cycle oregon, visit their web site at: http://www.cycleoregon.com/

A few months before the event cyclists get together each Sunday morning for training rides in the Anchorage area. For more information contact Mike Jens at mikejens@gci.net.

Also, Bill Howitt is sponsoring an early season ride we are calling the Sutherlin Spring Classic, based out of Sutherlin, Oregon. It will probably happen sometime in late April or early May. We will operate from his new house in Sutherlin. He probably can't handle a lot of people, but we are hoping a small group of us to go. The riding around his place is great.
