Hard-core mountain bikers traveled an 11-mile lap until they could ride no more in the 24 Hours of Kincaid race last weekend.
Peter Basinger rode a mind-boggling 231 miles, or 21 laps, between noon Saturday and noon Sunday on a loop at Kincaid Park to win the overall title.
He was followed closely by second-place finisher Mike Madden, whose 20-lap, 220-mile performance was equally impressive.
But the most staggering display of toughness may have come from Pat Irwin, who rode a single-speed bike over the hilly terrain at Kincaid.
Women's winner Amber Stull rode 14 laps for 154 miles and held a three-lap, 33-mile advantage over Kathy Sarns Irwin.
In team competition, Men'll Pause won the two-person race, riding a combined 23 laps for 253 miles. And 4 Fast 4 Furious logged the most time on the circuit, riding 26 laps for 286 miles.
